Learning Star Preschool Family Day Care
OUR PHILOSOPHY OF CARE and LEARNING
Learning Star Preschool Family Day Care is a warm, happy and safe place for preschoolers to enjoy themselves and to learn. We seek to bridge the gap from home to school by providing a caring and positive atmosphere where child can continue developing her/his positive self-image by building skills through discovery play in a guided school setting.
Sensory, motor, perceptual and language skills are introduced through materials and activities that are child-centered, developmentally appropriate and teacher-guided. Projects are planned emphasizing process rather than product. We nurture the child's sense of accomplishment and pride.
Based on the theory that children learn through play, our activities and routines encourage the child's active involvement, meaningful experimentation and reinforcement through repetition. Schedules are designed for each child with balanced structure and free choice, as well as active and quiet times.
Recognizing that children grow in predictable stages, each child is treated as an individual by using the child development assessment principles of the Gesell Institute*. Each child's stage is assessed, and we move forward a step at a time. I teach a love of learning by allowing children to experience their own stage of development and helping them to feel success without pressure.
